How to Start a Nitro Car Engine
This tutorial will explain how to effectively start up the engine for those who are new or whose who have forgotten
The first thing you must do before you even try to start you RC car, is you must check for lose screws, cracks, chipped screws and look for anything which is damaged or missing. You must check that all batteries have full power, unless you want a run away car and you must make sure everything is well lubricated such as the air filter and bearings.
Once you have checked everything you then can pour the fuel into the fuel tank and start priming the engine. To do this you place a finger over the exhaust tip and cranking the engine over. Watch the fuel as it moves through the fuel tubing into the carb, stopping once it reaches it. Don't over prime the engine or it will flood and refuse to start. You can also take the tube that's attached to the exhaust, pull the throttle wide open and blow in it.
Turn on your transmitter and make sure all the servos work and respond to what you do on the transmitter.
Once the engine is primed and all the electrics work, insert the fully charged glow starter in the engine and leave it for about 7seconds to heat up. After this you can start to pull the pull starter in quick short bursts and make sure you don't damage the pull starter by pulling it to far. You can also use a electric starter which looks like a drill in which you can stick it in the engine and start it without any effort.

Tips
- Start your car in a well ventilated area
- Use you car with the body shell on to try and reduce the amount of dirt and grime getting in
- New engines that have a lot of compression will be harder to turn over and start. Loosen the glow plug slightly when starting and tighten it once the engine is running.
- Check that glow starter has been fully charged, if car doesn't start after charging remove glow plug from engine and place on glow starter and see if there's a glow. If there is not a glow then check the glow plug with another glow starter or buy a new glow plug.
- Make sure you bring a flat head screwdriver to make needle adjustments.
